Evidence-based therapy with practical, proven strategies from a Speech-language Pathologist

Seen virtually or in the comfort of your home

The Process

Free Consultation

I will sit down with you, virtually or over the phone, for a conversation about your child. What are your concerns? What are your goals for your child? What would your ideal outcome be from our time together? Based on this conversation, we will decide if an evaluation is an appropriate next step.

Evaluation

Using standardized and non-standardized assessment tools, I will complete a thorough, evidence-based, and most importantly — fun! evaluation for your child (or for you and your baby, if a breast/bottle/combo feeding evaluation is being conducted).

At the end of the session, I will provide general impressions and have a good idea if/what treatment is warranted. I will then contact you within 5 business days with a complete written report. We can go over the report results via phone or video chat and discuss recommended therapy options.

Treatment

Once we have reviewed recommended therapy options and decided on a schedule, the fun really begins— therapy sessions! All of my speech and language therapy sessions are embedded with lots of play, feel natural to the child, and are designed to involve you as the parent, as well! I want your child to love their therapy time, and I want you to feel confident and excited to carry over skills, too!

Feeding therapy is also designed to be fun and functional, using the applicable materials needed from your own home (including foods that your family eats), to ensure maximum carryover confidence from caregivers.

I provide speech and language therapy to address a variety of concerns, including:

Late Talkers & Early Intervention Strategies

Using sign and/or AAC as a bridge to speech

Additional Certifications Include:

•Fully PECs (Picture Exchange Communication System) Certified

•PROMPT (Restructuring Oral Musculature Phonetic Targets) Certified

• NBO (Newborn Behavioral Observations) Trained & Certified

Feeding Therapy

After years of working with children from birth to age 5, I am an experienced therapist who has guided many families through their breast, bottle, and pumping journeys (or any combination)! I also provide therapy addressing the transition to solids, including hyperactive gag reflexes, chewing and swallowing concerns, and ‘picky eaters.’

I have relationships with pediatric dentists, nutritionists, and internationally board certified lactation consultants in Southern Maine and work together with these professionals to establish excellent care for the littles I treat and their families.

Early Intervention & Late Talkers

Did you know that in most cases, the earlier you start speech therapy, the better? This is the key behind early intervention, usually defined as the period of time between birth and a child’s third birthday. I address feeding concerns as well as speech and language delays that may arise during this time period. Using evidence-based strategies that you can also carry over at home between sessions, we will work together to get your child on track during this crucial period of their development.

Breastfeeding, Bottle Feeding, & Post Release Tongue/Lip Tie Therapy

As intuitive as it may seem, most caregivers can speak to how foreign and difficult feeding a newborn or infant can feel! Let me help you problem solve latch, swallowing, and feeding concerns, including conducting tongue/lip tie function screenings. I can assist with post-tongue or lip tie release exercises, bottle feeding concerns, as well as breastfeeding difficulties. I can also determine when you and baby may benefit from another professional being involved in your care (such as IBCLC, pediatric dentist, or nutritionist), and point you to trusted local providers.

Beginning Solids, Transitioning from Bottles to Cups, ‘Picky Eating’, & Oral Motor Skills

I can help to address concerns around beginning solid foods. Common goals that I address include chewing, swallowing, gagging/sputtering, food refusal, texture/brand/color specific restrictive eating, and transitioning from bottles/breast to cups. I will assess your child and craft a treatment plan which includes goals to address any underlying oral motor concerns using functional, food-based strategies to strengthen those weaknesses.
